About
A scoring app, and a library
CricSport is software for scoring cricket: a club match captured ball by ball, a live scorecard the other side can follow, and a season of records that still add up in October.
This website is the library that sits beside it. One half is craft — how to score a match, how the laws land at the scorers’ table, how to run a competition. The other half is the game itself: where cricket came from, the players and rivalries worth knowing, and the versions of it played in streets and villages rather than stadiums.
It is written for the people who do the unglamorous work — the scorer with the pencil, the club secretary building a fixture list, the umpire settling an argument about a wide.
FAQ
Questions people ask
- 01 How long does it take to score a match?
- Setup takes a few minutes once the squads are known. Scoring runs at the pace of the match, with each ball recorded as it is bowled.
- 02 What happens if I make a mistake on a ball?
- Corrections are recorded as revisions, so the original entry and the correction both stay in the history. A finalised match needs to be reopened first.
- 03 Can more than one person score a match?
- One person holds the scorer role at a time. The role can be handed over, so a second scorer can take over during a long match.
