LBW

01

Leg before wicket: a form of dismissal decided by the umpire. The scorer writes the decision, not the appeal.

LBW is decided by the umpire. The umpire judges whether the ball would have hit the stumps had it not struck the batter's pad or body, and whether it pitched in a place that allows an LBW decision.

The scorer records the decision the umpire gives, including any review outcome. An appeal that is not upheld is not a dismissal.

Questions scorers actually ask

01 Can a batter be out LBW off a no-ball?
No.
02 Does the bowler get the wicket for LBW?
Yes. The bowler is credited, as with bowled.
