A session is a period of play between the scheduled breaks in a multi-day match. In a Test, each day has sessions, usually morning, afternoon and evening, separated by lunch and tea.

The scorer records the start and end of each session and the overs bowled in it.

Questions scorers actually ask

01 How many sessions in a Test day?
Usually three, with a lunch and tea break between them.
02 Why does the scorer track sessions?
So the overs and interruptions can be checked against the scheduled play.
