How the innings is shaped

T20, 50-over, multi-day, and gully cricket change what the scorer watches. Same book, different clocks.

50-over cricket for scorers

A 50-over innings is long enough for the book to drift. Check the total every ten overs, not at drinks when everyone is hungry.

Gully and tape-ball scoring

Gully cricket still needs a book if you care who won. The laws you ignore must be the ones you ignore on purpose, in writing, before the first ball.

Multi-day cricket for scorers

Multi-day cricket adds follow-ons, declarations, and new-ball overs. The scorer tracks innings, not just overs.

T20 for scorers

T20 is 20 overs a side with a faster clock, a powerplay, and less room to repair a messy over. The scorer has to be ahead of the bowler.

Test cricket for scorers

Test cricket is multi-day cricket with two innings a side. The scorer tracks follow-ons, declarations, and the new ball — never fold a second innings into the first sheet.
