A batter is not out when the innings ends without them being dismissed. The score stands, and the batter is counted as a not-out in the average.

Write "not out" next to the score, so the reader knows the innings ended with the batter at the crease.

Questions scorers actually ask

01 Does not out affect the average?
Yes. It increases runs without a dismissal, which raises the average.
02 Is a batter not out after a declaration?
Yes. The batters at the crease finish not out.
