The target is the total the chasing side must pass to win, normally the first innings total plus one. Rain or a reduced match can change it, and DLS or the playing conditions set the revision.

The scorer records each revised target with the time and the reason.

Questions scorers actually ask

01 Is the target the first innings total plus one?
Usually. Some competitions use the total itself. Check the playing conditions.
02 Who revises the target?
The umpires, using the official DLS tool or the rule the competition names.
