The wicket-keeper stands behind the stumps and takes the ball the batter has missed or let through. The keeper can dismiss a batter by catching the ball or by stumping.

The keeper's catches and stumpings are credited in the fielding figures, and the byes they concede are recorded as extras.

Questions scorers actually ask

01 Does the keeper get byes charged to them?
Byes are extras. They are recorded against the team, not the keeper, in the book.
02 Who is the keeper in the scorebook?
Mark the keeper in the team list, so their catches and stumpings are recorded correctly.
